Ever since YouTube made a suggestion of me watching a video with Gretchen Hirsch, through Good Housekeeping TV, I've been secretly stalking Gretchen a.k.a. "Gertie". To see her reminds me to the Stepford wives movie and how the actors dresses so vintage. Vintage. That's a great way to describe her aesthetic. To me, she is the Vintage Queen!
As I became more serious about my drive for sewing, I decided to start my Sewing book library. I managed to get my hands on 2 of her books - Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing and Gertie's Ultimate Dress Book.
Below you will see my video review of these 2 books. These are books that you definitely want on your shelf. I find the Ultimate Dress Book tobe more of a text book style. She starts from the very beginning of sewing. She even teaches about the different types of fabric. Every beginner, intermediate, and Advanced sewer can learn from this book.
